The leaders of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) have accepted a decision during their meeting in Bishkek to declare the next year – the Year of Youth.
Belarus suggested to announce 2009 as the Year of Youth in CIS, and it was approved at the summit. According to the draft decision, it is charged governments of the member-states of CIS, correposnding bodies and Interstate humanitarian cooperation fund of CIS, to consider events on preparing and conducting the Year of Youth in 2009.
Besides, the meeting’s participants proposed to announce 2010 as the Year of Science and Innovation.
