President Kurmanbek Bakiyev had bilateral meetings with Russian
President Dmitry Medvedev within the framework of the informal summit
of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in Cholponata.
The
Kyrgyz leader thanked D.Medvedev for his active participation in the
summit’s work. “The summit was successful. Important issues of
cooperation were discussed. I think, the leaders of CSTO states will
draw corresponding conclusions on further improvement of the
Organization’s activities”, - said K.Bakiyev.
In his turn,
D.Medvedev, congratulated the head of state on his birthday and wished
success. He noted the summit’s participants discussed the current
situation in the CSTO, perspectives of its further development and
determined plans for the future. The Russian leader expressed thanks
for invitation to visit Issykkul. This is his first visit to Issykkul.
The
leaders of two states signed a memorandum on intentions of the Kyrgyz
Republic and the Russian Federation on further development and
improvement of bilateral treaty and legal base, regulating the Russian
military presence in Kyrgyzstan and deployment of the additional
Russian military contingent in the territory of Kyrgyzstan.
